They can lead to ur Video card's drivers being corrupted. Because a game's corrupted configuration files are the cause of many if not the majority of problems. And without those files backed up too, a restoration of a game's folder manually backed up, is less likely to resolve a problem. Some of them may get left behind in for example the User's MyDocuments Folder or the User's MyGames folder (inside MyDocuments). Whereby manually backing up a non-steam game urself, may not always include all configuration files. The only difference with the Steam Backup strategy versus manually making ur own backup of a non-Steam game is that the Steam game backups u make in Steam include all of the configuration files for the game that is backed up. Just think of how Steam added the exact same option several years ago. Of course the idea behind a "Game Installation Directory (Folder) Backup Plan", is that by restoring it the game will magically work as well as when u backed it up. That way, if a game screws up and after restoring that backup the game still screws u have a place to start from. Basically, when a game DOES work perfectly, THAT is the time to make a complete Backup (copy) of the Folder that said game is installed in. The only advice i considered posting yesterday was that having a "Game Installation Directory (Folder) Backup Plan", is a very good contingency. And participated (captained) in countless amateur tournaments. i played BF2 over 2,000 hours and BF3 for over 300 hours. (i was jk in my last post.) but i did want to help u on that BF3 thread i read yesterday. or maybe saying that it has ample bandwidth is a better way of putting it.Īs far as BF3, idt that moving ur sound-card and getting 16x PCI-E speeds as a result, will help fix BF3. I can't phrase it right maybe someone else would be nice enough to. I only ran 3D Mark Firestrike benchamrk and the score was very similar if not identical.īased on that, either my CPU is bottlenecking my GTX 780, OR 8X vs 16X cause 0 improvement. because i won't be hijacking if i ask, right? -) sry, if i am. but my mobo only has PCI-E 2.0.Īnd can someone explain (technically) why Iorveth noticed 0 improvement. (anyone?) because i'll soon be upgrading to a pair of GTX760s FTW. Therefore, i'm guessing/ hoping that PCI-E 3.0 will be the same. I found that by using my lowest PCI-E slot for my 2nd card (8x versus the one above that is my 2nd 16x) that both cards cooled off enormously due to all the additional space between them. (i did extensive testing with synthetic tests and real-time gaming.) Last year i had to figure out if there was any difference, performance-wise, between versus a pair of GTX560-ti (PCI 2.0) in SLI, the difference was/ is only 2 to 3 frames per 100 frames. did ur BF3 problem go away as a result of getting 16x? -)īut, for sake of anyone adding to, and or correcting me, and especially to expand upon- because it is relevant to ur point that 8x versus 16x resulted in 0 improvement(s): I ran 3D Mark FireStrike Benchmark and I noticed 0 improvement :)
